Education

I graduated from Cashmere High School in 2014. During my senior year, I had to do a senior project as a requirement to graduate. I knew I loved fashion so I decided to make a dress. At that time, I had never designed or sewed anything before. The process was difficult because I didn't have a background in draping or pattern making. Although I was uneducated in fashion design at the time, my dress still turned out quite well and I wore it for my presentation. That was the day I knew I wanted fashion to be more than just a hobby, I wanted to make a career out of it.

After I graduated high school, I went on to attend my freshman year of college at Eastern Washington University. I wanted to get involved and have an extra-curricular group or activity to be apart of so I became a part of Alpha Phi Sorority, Eta Psi chapter. Eastern does not have a fashion program, so I started taking business classes because I thought that at least I could get a business background and then use that to put myself somewhere in the fashion industry. After my freshman year ended, I decided that I needed to make a change because business classes were not helping me get closer to my goal. I decided to transfer to Central Washington University my sophomore year of college and it was the best decision I have ever made.

Currently, I am a senior at Central Washington University. My major is Apparel, Textiles and Merchandising with a minor in Fashion Design. I feel like the Apparel, Textile and Merchandising program has made me more positive of my love for the fashion industry. I have learned an immense amount of knowledge about the industry through the courses that are offered. Fashion Show Production taught me how to work directly with retailers. Having a background working with retailers sets me ahead because I know how to communicate with industry professionals. A few classes I have taken include: Socio-cultural Aspects of Apparel, Beginning-Advanced Fashion Design, History of Fashion, Intro to Theater Design, Retail Management and more. My goal is to become a personal stylist or a fashion merchandiser and the program at CWU will be the reason I achieve my goal.
