Internship

For my internship, I worked for a company called Twisted Couture. It is a small, family owned business in Leavenworth, Washington. I worked closely with the creator of the company and even had the opportunity to buy at MAGIC. I learned a lot about the business side of fashion during my internship. My duties included inventory, stocking/restocking, merchandising displays, visual merchandising, scheduling, and attending buying shows/conventions. I was thrown into the fast paced fashion industry eager to learn new techniques in terms of merchandising and styling but I was also excited to show what I had been learning in school. I was able to display my knowledge of visual merchandising throughout the business and I was able to share a bit of my personal style as well.

During my internship, I was put in charge of buying swimwear for our boutique. I was also in charge of merchandising an entire wall in the store, dedicated to the swimwear. Knowledge from my Fashion Trend Analysis class helped me make informed decisions about which styles of swimwear to purchase for the boutique. While we were at MAGIC, a vendor handed me a purchase order to fill out. I would not have known how to fill out the order form if it wasn't for my Merchandise Buying and Planning class. Being able to take information that I learned from course work in college set me up in a position for success.
